The Devil's Highway Roman Road Project

The overall aim of this project is to investigate features along the Roman road from London to Silchester.    This year's objective is to survey the section from just south of Wickham Bushes to Larchwood Farm, Finchampstead.

Along this section of the road we are looking for evidence of the exact alignment of the road and for details of its structure.  The first project objectives are:

• A preliminary survey of this length of the road: which is almost complete

• The development of a plan for ongoing archaeological work
